High on a lush green canyon above the Wos River near Ubud in the historic Regency of Gianyar, lies the magnificent estate of Villa Imogiri. Villa Imogiri offers the highest levels of privacy and supreme luxury within a setting of breathtaking vistas and exquisite gardens scented with frangipani, hibiscus, orchids and bougainvilaea.
Villa Imogiri is located on the perimeter of the quaint villages of Bangkiang Sidem and Keliki, just eight minutes from Ubud -- the artistic centre of Bali. The Villa Imogiri estate is established between two important temples, one of which has seen the Hindu religion practised there since the 19th century. The spectacle of pageantry and music can often be witnessed as village celebrants' parade between these revered temples.
The estate's name, IMOGIRI, mountain of mist is derived from the beautiful and ancient place in Java, chosen by the Imperial family as the eternal Royal resting place: a place closer to heaven than to earth.
