Bali’s smallest district is Klungkung
Bali’s smallest district is Klungkung, located between Gianyar and Karangasem, and includes the islands of Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Ceningan.
Klungkung itselft is a bustling town. On reaching the town centre, you come to Kertha Gosa, the Hall of Justice. Surrounded by a moat, this is a superb example of Klungkung architecture, best known for its ceiling paintings in the Klungkung style.
Kertagosa
The old Court Hall and the Park of Wonderful islet (Floating Hall) were formenly part of Semarapura Royal Place. To the west of these two buildings there stands a main gate known as Pamedal Agung, the main entrance to the Royal Palace.
Semarajaya Museum
The collection of antiquities that is exhibited at the Semarajaya Museum is kept in the Mulo School Building, the former Dutch middle school. It is located in the complex that is made up of the Kertha Gosa (Hall of Justice), Taman Gili (Floating Place), and Pemedal Agung (the Gate of the Klungkung Kingdom). On display are a number of prehistoric artifacts and articles from the Puputan Klungkung.
