Situated at a very strategic location nearby the civic complex of Denpasar, makes this square utilized as a place to hold such official ceremonies, as well as for sports field.
The most crowded time at this square is usually at Sunday morning and afternoon. The city people do various sports here. A general aerobic regularly held at 7.00am on Sunday morning. Led by some person from official aerobic club, people are openly welcomed to join in the aerobic. It always be a lot of fun and healthy atmosphere at this square on Sunday. There is a trend amongst the city people to come down to the square for having exercises. There is no certain reason for this tendency, but for the teenagers and the youngsters, it mostly because they feel comfortable to hanging around there rather than do such real sport.
However, the square is never empty of people who do sports. Even in daily busy days, many people are found do some exercises in the morning at the square. However, in the afternoon, the square will turn crowded of people, mostly teenagers and youngsters. Some are really doing sports, while the others are only hanging on their motorbikes or cars, while enjoying the local style foods and beverages sold by some vendors there.
There is a monument, called Monument Perjuangan Rakyat Bali (The monument of Bali people’s struggle) stands on the south part of the square. The monument was built to commemorate the heroic of the Balinese heroes’ spirit in casting away the colonialists. The inside part of the monument, which will be functioned as a gallery and a museum, is still under construction
