The Sanur Beach located on the eastern and southern parts of the Sanur village -- South Denpasar district of Denpasar municipality, about 6 km from the central town. The beach is reachable for any kind of vehicle. The public transportations are plenty around this area, so visitors will not have to worry to get there and away.

On Sunday and holidays, the beach is crowded by people, not only visitors but also the local people who enjoy the recreation at the beach. At night, especially on full moon, there are many people sit on the beach while enjoying the beauty of the beach.

Sanur Beach has been popular for a couple centuries ago. Especially when the ‘Puputan Badung’ broke up. ‘Puputan’ is a Balinese term for a battle till the last blood drop, and ‘Badung’ is one of the regencies in Bali. Sanur Beach used to be a part of Badung regency. A war between the Badung people, including Sanur and the Dutch troops broke out on September 20, 1906. A lot of Balinese killed and Dutch colonized Badung. But, the most important thing is that the Balinese people never surrender even that the last blood drops, rather than stay alive but under the power of the colonials.

In the ancient Bali history, the Sanur Beach also the place where an inscription, known as the Blanjong inscription found. It known as the remain of King Sri Kesari Warmadewa of Singhadwala Palace on 917. The Sanur Beach was also introduced by a great Belgian painter, A.J. Le Mayeur who married a Balinese woman, namely Ni Polok. Le Mayeur stayed in Bali since 1937. A museum then built to pay respect to him.

Another beauty of Sanur Beach is its northern part that shaped like a half circle, and its southern part that turning from east to west, in which the waves are not really strong, and the reefs are seen colorfully spread out. On the southwest part the range of the Nusa Penida island seen, while on the eastern part, the southern coast of Bali along with the mountains are also seen.

The beauty panorama in Sanur Beach can be also enjoyed within the afternoon moments closely to twilight. At this moment, the waters ebb tide and the waves are weak. The range of the Serangan island can be also seen on the southern part of the beach.

The southern panorama of the beach is the more beautiful in the morning. It is good to enjoy the sunrise within this area, while the sandy beach is relaxing for sunbath. Good part of the beach on the east are in Semawang and Mertasari. The weather is so relaxing since many big trees planted there.
