The sixth and last of the series, Tumpek Ringgit, or Tumpek Wayang, is again a Kajeng Keliwon, and is the occasion for making offerings that pay homage to the apparatus used in some of the performing arts, especially ‘Wayang’ (traditional shadow puppets).

It is believed to be very ill-fated if a baby is born on this date, and a special ceremony has to be performed in order to purify the child and protect it from harm. Usually a Wayang Kulit (shadow puppet) performance should be carried out.

Many families in Bali have inherited shadow puppets from their ancestors who are the ‘dalangs’ (masters of puppets). Of course, all dalangs have sets of these puppets. The puppets are taken from their box, placed in position just as if an actual performance were taking place, and then blessed by the owner.
