The flora that is cultivated on Bali is very often related to meeting the daily needs of the people. The local agricultural labor provides rice, vegetables, fruit, coffee, spices, and flowers, both for consumption and for use in offerings. Trees include the holy banyan or waringin, and the shady frangipani with its sweet smelling flowers.

Wildlife includes lizards, bats, monkeys, muncak or mouse deer, squirrels and iguanas. There are more than 300 species of bird.and a rich variety of coral, seaweed, fish and other marine life in the coastal waters.

The Balinese cattle are delicate and graceful. Ducks are a familiar sight and flocks of them are kept by farmers in the flooded ricefields. Balinese pigs are related to wild boars. Chickens and roosters are to be found everywhere.
