This sanctuary island, off the northwest coast at the western entrance to Teluk Terima, got its name, Deer Island, from the wild deer that graze on the island's savannahs.

The spectacular dropoffs off P. Menjangan south side are only surpassed by the particularly fine coral reefs off its northern shores, making this uninhabited island the primer scuba diving and snorkeling locale of Bali.

Not only are these reefs frequented by fish of every size, shape, and color, but there's a great variety of underwater terrain, no dangerous currents to contend with, and the region serves as an important habitat for sea and shore birds. Take a lunch and drinks.
