Past century recorded the name of Banyuwedang as a royal bathing prestige with its abudant hot springs around the bay. Located partially on the ground of Mimpi Resort Menjangan, the hot springs supply the resort with high quality sodium-chloride-calcium-sulphate water with a basic temperature of 46.6 C. According to a testified spa and mineral water analysis by the German company Hydroisotop, the water is to be characterised as aqua ex fonte thermale oligominerale, with a comparatively very low content of salute gases and radioactivity (Radium and Radon).

The Banyuwedang spa is comparable with other well-known thermal spring waters, such as Aachen, Neuenahr, Pyrmont and Baden-Baden of Germany, Evian and Vichy of Frnace, and Bath of U.K., as well as with mineral water like Hirschquelle, Gerolsteiner, Nauheimer and Rosbacher Urquell.

Possible Forms of Applications

Internal
The water fulfills the standards of the German Regulation on Mineral Water and may be served for drinking for a specified length of time. In fact, local inhabitants have been drinking this water all their life with good health effects and there are reports on a comparatively better dental dan dermal health of the people using it.

External
Skin contact application such as prolonged warm showering, cold and warm showering, warm baths, thermal changing baths (Kneipp's Wechselbad), warm/cold Kneipp's Surprise applications (Guss), and carbon dioxide or oxigen-added sprinkling spa applications. Soap should not be used extensively as a hardness of 6.5 classifies the water as rather soft. The slightly acid pH of 6.5 makes the water very friendly to the skin. A soothing effect is reported by persons suffering from chronic skin lesions of inflammations (dermatitis. etc.), due to its natural contents of low level H2S and SO4-ions which are known to render specific dermal effects. As the water is rather salt-depleted, drying of the skin after bathing is not necessary.

Possible Forms of Applications

The test has showed that the Banyuwedang thermal water can be used for such treatments as arelaxing baths; rejuvenating cures of skin; and therapeutic applications, i.e. changing warm and cold baths for the limbs, prolonged shower-bathing for rheumatoid pains, colonix, oxygen or CO2-added sprinkling baths, controlled hypothermia sessions, etc. Several health conditions can be expected from the water treatments i.e. psychosomatic conditions with therapeutic indications or with desire to change food, drink-intaking or smoke-inhaling habits, chronic heavy metal ion intoxication, multiple chemical sensitivity syndrome; stress of all kinds including tinnitus, rheumatoid pains, arthropathic and orthopaedic conditions; post-traumatic and post-op residual pains; body-weight associated pains in joints and muscles; overweight; hyperhydrosis (intolerance of equatorial climate with increased sweating); chronic heavy intoxication of all sort; chronic disturbances of metabolism.

The Menjangan Spa Applications

Various forms of rehabilitation therapy are offered, i.e. massage (Indonesian, Chinese, Ayurveda, European lymph drainage), compresses and hot/cold rolls, as well as Fango treatments.
